Ranthambhore June 2007
I have just returned from another extended trip to Ranthambhore National Park, the best place in the world to watch wild tigers. I spent almost five weeks in the forest searching for the tigress Machali and her litter of three female cubs. Sightings were on the whole quite difficult to come by as she spent long periods of time in the Rajbagh Palace a long way away from my camera lens, in fact, along with my guest Mike Vickers I spent one whole week waiting for an image on the same stretch of shoreline of the lake. On the seventh day she finally appeared and I took the image opposite as she walked with her family right down the Nalghati Valley track. Victoria Falls and Hwange January 2007
After a ten year absence I finally managed to return to the African continent in January of this year. I spent several days at Victoria Falls on the Zambian side and shot the falls from a km up in a microlight which was thrilling, and offers the best perspective on this astonishing wonder of the natural world. I then crossed the border and headed for Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. Game here was quite scarce due to it being in the rainy season, but I still managed to return with some interesting images, including one lion portrait I am particularly pleased with. I must thank my guide in Hwange Charles Ndlovu, for his outstanding tracking skills and thorough knowledge of this African paradise. |
