Photography

Below are a few examples of the photographs some of Chris’s guests have taken on his recent trips. Many of his clients have travelled with a very limited understanding of photography and after just two weeks in his company, listening to his constant advice and taking part in his practical poolside tutorials, have returned as very proficient photographers. Be warned though! Such is the thrill and excitement of watching and photographing wild tigers you may well be forced to return - many of his guests are now regular visitors.

Local Help

Alongside Chris you will be joined by his friend and guide of 7 years Nafis Mohammed. Chris met Nafis on one of his first days in Ranthambhore and since then they have spent literally months and months inside Ranthambhore unravelling its mysteries. In fact many of Chris’s finest images would not exist without the skill, intuition and dedication of Nafis. Together they are the perfect team and you will not have a better, more complete chance of finding tigers with anyone else in India.

Practicalities

Chris recommends a minimum trip length of seven days. In this time period you are almost guaranteed to see and photograph a tiger in the wild. Most people prefer to stay for longer however and trips can be extended to 12 or 14 days or even longer if requested. Accommodation will be provided in nearby Sawai Madhopur in a luxurious hotel, complete with swimming pool, garden and buffet dining. Chris can also arrange to meet you off your flight and book hotels and rail travel to Ranthambhore, which is located about 400kms from New Delhi.

Testimonials

Having searched for tigers in other parts of India, my husband and I discovered Chirs Brunskill’s book Tiger Forest and were keen to visit Ranthambhore to experience the tigers there. We contacted Chris and asked if he would be prepared to accompany us on a trip. With great excitement in March 2004 we travelled with him to Ranthambhore. We had a wonderful time searching for tigers with Chris and Nafis and will never forget the wonderful encounters we had with these magnificent animals which we have filmed and photographed. Ranthambhore is a magical place; to describe it would never do it justice – it is something that if possible just has to be experienced and our time there will forever be in our memories.

I first started to plan photographing tigers just over a year ago and wanted information regarding species and habitat. I found Chris’s book Tiger Forest and within minutes knew this was the place I wanted to visit. Chris had done an excellent job in capturing the magic of Ranthambhore so I contacted him and arranged the trip of a lifetime. Not only did Chris show me around some of the stunning areas of the park, but he also introduced me to some of its very special big cats. In just 7 days I visited many of the places illustrated in Tiger Forest and came away with over 4000 images, wonderful experiences and many new friends.

Chris, I just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed our safari with you to Ranthambhore . It’s the 3rd time that we have travelled with you which MUST say something for your good humour and informative knowledge on both Ranthambhore and the denizens within the park. Thank you also for putting up with my boring photographic questions to you - sorry I'll try and do better next time! If you feel that you could put up with me again, both Annie and I hope that we will be able to join you for a 4th safari next season to see again those most charismatic and fascinating bengal tigers.
